Holiday Electrical Tips for Your Home
October 26, 2022
Take a few tips from our experts to keep your electrical system in tip-top shape this holiday season!
- Consider installing a dedicated GFCI outdoor outlet for all your outdoor decorations. A dedicated circuit can help reduce electrical overload of your home.
- Make sure all your outdoor electrical decorations are waterproof and protected from moisture.
- Using LED lights can help reduce energy usage and produce less heat on the decorations.
Extension Cord Safety
Don’t plug extension cords into one another or over load the extension cords. Make sure the cords are not covered to prevent cord from overheating, do not run through walls, doorways, ceilings or floors. Keep all outdoor extension cords clear of standing water.
If you find yourself heavily dependent on extension cords, consider installing an outlet exactly where you need it!
Reminder to check all the extension cords before use (cracked or frayed) and do not nail or staple the cords to walls or baseboards.
