Residential Circuits & Wiring
When we flip a switch or push a button, we completely expect our electrically powered devices to power on and be at our beck and call. Electricity flows throughout our homes from the power source (utility companies) through the main electrical panel in our home, to the outlets throughout our homes, powering the appliances and devices that require electrical power to function.
The standard residential electrical outlet is comprised of two three pronged polarized receptacles, each have a 120 volt “hot” wire, a neutral wire, and a ground. In the case where more voltage is required, such as a clothes dryer, there will typically be one receptacle creating 240-volt circuit where 2 of the prongs are “hot” wires and the third is a neutral. When you need to power that new hot tub or wire a new room or garage, call the expert licensed electricians at Mr. Sparky®.
